The Junior Life Skills course is a comprehensive 6 weeks course for adolescent puppies from age 5 to 12 months of age. The first lesson is an Induction Theory lesson for all new students to learn how dogs learn, what methods we use, equipment, best rewards and motivators for best results, and solving common problems. It is essential that you are able to attend an induction class to be able to book this course.
The following 5 practical lessons are aimed at helping you to train your dog to focus on you and have self control and manners around distractions. We will teach you how to use a clicker and work on various Life Skills and manners exercises to enhance your relationship with your pet dog. We train indoors and out where possible and have small classes with several assistants to support you throughout the course. You will also receive our Life Skills Training and Behaviour Manual to accompany the course and weekly homework sheets.
Skills will include:
Attention to name
Focus and Self Control
Come when called or whistled
Walk on a loose lead
Greet people politely
Car control and door manners
Food manners and Leave it
Settle down and relax on the mat
After completing this course you then have the option of booking the Level 2 follow on course
Please note: this course is for sociable puppies only – if your dog has fears or issues with other dogs or strangers, please contact us for our specialist 1-1 training plan.
